Infrared Laser Mirrors

CO2 lasers are widely used in the cutting and welding business. They are able to process parts with a thickness greater than a few millimeters, also if the material made of stainless steel. These laser, so called High-power laser systems, enable welding, drilling, and cutting of materials in many areas of industry. Optical components of these systems must strictly meet these requirements. Materion Balzers Optics offers optical coatings in the range of 9.6µm to 10.6µm on customer-specific substrate dimensions for the use of CO2-based laser systems. With a reflection (R > 99.6%) and a very low absorption, HR mirrors, intra-cavity reflectors, polarization influencing optics and components for beam delivery systems can be manufactured.

Typical applications can be found in laser-based material processing (welding, bonding, and drilling) as well as in the field of laser marking and perforation of plastics.
