Autonomous vehicles 

Optical signals are mostly used for communication with, and control of, autonomously moving robots and vehicles. Sensor technology uses wavelengths in the NIR and IR range for this purpose. Materion Balzers Optics produces a wide range of AR-coatings on hydrophobic coatings, which meet the highest requirements in terms of environmental stability. Besides BP- filters with steep edges and blocking >OD4, we have also developed dichroic longpass and shortpass filters as well as beamsplitter coatings.
